Biography

Martini Rouge is a quartet based in Sydney fusing jazz, pop, latin and lounge music.

ROUGE. French for 'RED'. The color of love, passion, lust, fire and blood; All the ingredients found simmering in this musical cocktail of Brubeck and Ellington inspired jazz laced with lust, femme fatales, samba and New Orleans!

Consisting of Keyna Wilkins on piano, Emanuele Nicolella on double bass, Jeffrey Argent on drums and singer Nicole Martini.

Mixing the worldly musical backgrounds of its band members to create their own unique signature sound and extensive multilingual repertoire (True to the languages of l’amour: English, Italian, French and Spanish), Martini Rouge covers lost jazz and latin gems and draws upon them as inspiration for their own original compositions.

The quirky quartet made their musical debut on the main arena of the Sydney Royal Easter Show in 2012, paying a long overdue homage to an era when music was bursting with toe tappin’ zest and lyrical depth.

Inspired by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald’s and Louis Armstrong’s ‘April in Paris.’ Sinatra’s ‘Cheek to Cheek’, Nina Simone’s ‘I Put a Spell on You’ and Django Reinhardt’s ‘Brazil.’ Quench your thirst with Martini Rouge’s fresh and frisky take on an old loved genre!
