Biography

Fresh and amazing jazz/soul vocalist Wallace Gollan has gone far for herself both in New Zealand and Australia.

Wallace's passion for standards is evident and she does them with a genuine, abundant tone well beyond her simple 20 years.

Recently however, she has actually been branching off and these days is similarly inspired by soul, hip-hop and modern-day jazz music artists. Erykah Badu, Gretchen Parlato, Little Dragon, Marvin Gaye, Kurt Elling, Donny Hathaway and Prince, to call but a few, have had an extensive affect on Wallace and her very own writing.

Several of Wallace's most of significant achievements to date are the many awards she has won at New Zealand's famous National Youth Jazz Competition held every year in Tauranga.

She succeeded 'Most Outstanding Musician' and 'Most Outstanding Vocalist' (Judged by Tom Warrington, Larry Koonse and Joe Los angeles Barbera), her band likewise obtained 'Best Combo'.

In her last year of secondary school Wallace went to The Jazz Workshop Sydney and obtained a scholarship to return again the following year. The second time around she secured the leading scholarship and the opportunity to record with John Morrison, Brendan Clarke and Dave Smith.

Wallace additionally gained the 'Best Vocalist' award at the Queenstown International Jazz Festival and has likewise played at numerous festivals around New Zealand with Rodger Fox and other top Kiwi Musicians.
